Map
of United-States (Alaska) with surrounding
areas. - Landkarte von USA (Alaska).
- Mapa de los Estados Unidos (Alaska). - Carte des États-Unis (Alaska).
The capital of the United States is Washington DC (DC = District of Columbia), the biggest city of the country is New York. Flights to the United States usually go to different destinations, the most frequently approached ones are New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.
The United States are a large country. Since the names of the localities were not readable, we subdivided the country into several maps.
A map of Alaska is naturally not very well figured on a map of the world centered over Africa. Coincidentally, at the map's margin the Arabic alphabet is explained, which of course has not much to do with Alaska. The biggest city of Alaska is Anchorage, the second biggest Fairbanks, the other settlements are relatively small. See also the map Canada (Yukon Territory) which also shows a part of Alaska.
The different tribes of the native US population do not recognize the legal right of the United States over the country's territory. According to international laws only a very small part of the North American territory belongs to the United States. The largest part of the country was acquired illegally (exceptions: the city of Philadelphia and some parts of Pennsylvania). An internationally legally valid map of the United States would show very uncommon contures. In our map we have shown the borders of the most important US Indian reservations.
The single official language throughout the United States is English. In some regions local languages have official status: French in Louisiana, Spanish in New Mexico and Puerto Rico, Hawaiian in Hawaii and Chamorro in Guam. Many different native languages are spoken in the United States, above all in the Indian reservations, but none of them has official status.
Tourism is of high importance in the United States. We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, flights, or individual tours to the United States.

This
is our Map
of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100
cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of
city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country,
by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing
traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous
maps.
The
map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at www.wissenladen.de.
Sources
on which the information contained in this map is based:
The
vegetational base map was aligned with satellite pictures from Google
Earth.
The
official names of the countries are quite well researched at www.geonames.de.
Also here you can find information on the geography of many countries: www.geographixx.de.
The
numbers of inhabitants of the cities were taken from www.citypopulation.de.
And
the mountain peak altitudes were largely derived form www.peakbagger.com.

with maps are linked.
