Argentina's capital is Buenos Aires, which is also the biggest city of the country. In Argentina the capital is usually called "Capital", which in the common usage "Buenos Aires" refers to the province attached to the big city. Flights to Argentina usually go to Buenos Aires.
Argentina is one of the largest countries of the world. Because the names of the localities in our map would not be readable, we subdivided the maps and present two pages for Argentina - Argentina north and Argentina south. For the other map please click in the list of South American countries below.
The official language of Argentina is Spanish. Next to Spanish, many other languages are spoken, the most important native language being Mapuche in the province of Neuquén. Argentina has been a country of immigrants for more than 100 years, with many immigrants still living in "colonies" which still preserve their original languages. The most important groups are Italian, German, Japanese, Galician and Basque. In southern Argentina there are English and Welsh minorities. Large parts of the wide pastures of Patagonia belong to English descendents.
Tourism is locally of high importance in Argentina. We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, sea voyages, beach holidays, flights, or individual tours to Argentina.

This is our Map of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100 cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country, by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous maps.

The map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at www.wissenladen.de.

Sources on which the information contained in this map is based:

The vegetational base map was aligned with satellite pictures from Google Earth.

The official names of the countries are quite well researched at www.geonames.de.

Also here you can find information on the geography of many countries: www.geographixx.de.

The numbers of inhabitants of the cities were taken from www.citypopulation.de.

And the mountain peak altitudes were largely derived form www.peakbagger.com.
