This poster is for all astronauts, male and female, from the present day and the future.
It is also for those who at lift off can’t help thinking of the million pieces that are playing their role…
All of the rockets that were shot into space between 1957 and 1982 are shown here; not only those from the USA and Russia, but also some from France, Japan, England and the ESA, and we shouldn’t forget China.
Here and there, you can discover some little details on the struts; you can count the number of rings on the nozzles of a Japanese N-1(1975), and see the turret-like construction of an A-1 Sputnik from 1957.
What is most fascinating about this poster is the uniformity of scale.
It shows that the diameter of one nozzle of the SaturnV was almost three times the size of the full diameter of a Scout Rocket.
On this poster, they are lined up peacefully beside each other, one 25 metres small compared to 120 metres tall.
Perhaps they should have placed a man beside them.
He would have been almost as big as the lettering.
You can also rest assured that the colours are authentic.
If you have been up there once, there is just one thing you will always want and that is to go up again.
